I’ll admit it. I’m a little proud. After all, it must be a badge of honor to be banned by tyrants.
Apparently, YouTube is no longer a safe place…because of me. It’s not the vile language and lewd conduct that is such regular fare there. It’s not the propaganda that grooms our kids and attacks their innocence. It’s not the true disinformation put out by the CDC and WHO. Nope. Apparently, it’s me.
Let me explain.
I received a “strike” about three weeks ago for violating YouTube’s “community standards” by a video that was published in January 2021, nearly two years ago. I was a bit mystified. Here’s the notice I got:
Hi Allison Ricciardi,
Our team has reviewed your content, and, unfortunately, we think it violates our misinformation policy. We’ve removed the following content from YouTube.
And here’s the video they banned:
You’ll note that I didn’t claim election fraud in the video. I simply stated that some people were questioning the results. THAT is an incontrovertible fact. Many people are questioning the results…even more so now after the midterms.
But that wasn’t even the point of the video! That was a passing comment. The video was about having hope and faith in these challenging times.
So, I appealed their decision.
And here’s their response and decision:
We reviewed your content carefully and have confirmed that it violates our misinformation policy. We know this is probably disappointing news, but it’s our job to make sure that YouTube is a safe place for all.
How does this impact your content
• We won’t be putting your content back up on YouTube.
• If your appeal was for a warning, you will not be given another warning in the future.
• If your appeal was for a strike, the strike will remain on your channel.
So apparently as long as I praise the garments of the naked emperor, they may let me post content after I’ve paid my debt to society in YouTube jail but…I must toe the line.
Well, you can never appease a tyrant. I’ll repeat that. You can never appease a tyrant.
So why bother?
Although I will continue to post on YouTube (when they let me), I will be including the links to my videos on Rumble first. Please view the videos on Rumble instead of YouTube. It’s a small gesture, but it’s meaningful. I know it won’t really impact them in any measurable way, but I think it’s important we not support platforms that violate our First Amendment rights to free speech—especially when there are other options. In fact, whenever possible, given the choice, why not choose platforms like Rumble that respect your freedom?
Well, I hope the video gives you some hope. Despite all the insanity and gloom, I maintain hope in God and in the promises of our Lady. The enemy has become most obvious at this point. That’s a good sign. Though the times are certainly dark, together we can dispel that darkness by living in and sharing the light of Christ.
May this new year bring you peace and joy.
God bless you.
