Unlock The Philippians Formula for Peace

by | May 14, 2025 | Counseling

We live in a time of turmoil. And the MSM and social media love to stoke the flames. We all long for peace—in our hearts, our families and in our world…and yet we struggle.

In spite of anything going on in the world, in your family, or at work, peace is attainable and is God’s will for you. It all depends on where you put your focus. Focus on the chaos and evil and forget peace. The devil puts it before you always to keep you in a state of fear, anxiety, and depression.

But you can make another choice.

One of my all-time favorite scriptures is from Philippians 4:4:

Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I will say rejoice. Your kindness should be known to all. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Rejoicing may be hard when things are going wrong in your life…and yet the command is clear. To rejoice in the Lord always. In the Lord. In His victory over all evil, over sin, over even death.

For so many of us, the greatest worry and suffering is seeing how far our society, and our own children and families have fallen from the faith, from decency, and even from normalcy. But there are signs the tide is turning…if you have the eyes to see.

So how do we counter and reclaim this culture and regain our peace? Again, let’s go back to Philippians 4:4- Your kindness should be known to all. Not your preaching. Not your nagging. Not you’re berating or manipulating. Your kindness. As Maya Angelou said, people may forget what you say but they will never forget how you made them feel. Ponder this…

Is that hard to do when you see such evil and corruption? Then change your focus.

Back to Philippians 4:8:

Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

As we celebrate this anniversary of the apparitions at Fatima, take heart and trust. Her Immaculate Heart will triumph…and it starts by letting her Heart triumph in ours.

Philippians is the formula:

  1. Rejoice
  2. Be kind to everyone
  3. Don’t worry
  4. Pray
  5. Give thanks
  6. Think about all that’s good, beautiful and true.

Wishing you the joy and peace of this glorious Easter season!
