Subtle Witness, Lasting Impact: Letting My Catholic Faith Speak Softly in the Workplace

by | Jun 5, 2025 | Coaching

For years, I wore two hats. One was my professional identity—executive leader, team builder, achiever. The other was my heart—Catholic, daughter of God, a woman being reshaped daily by grace. I kept these parts mostly separate. I told myself that’s what professionalism required.

But healing has a way of asking for integration. And over time, I knew I couldn’t keep leaving Jesus at the threshold of my career. I didn’t need to shout my beliefs from the rooftops, but I did need to stop hiding the part of me that gave everything else meaning.

Quiet Decisions, Deep Roots

The shift was subtle.

I updated my LinkedIn profile to reflect who I truly am—a faith-driven coach, called to serve with purpose and compassion.

I placed a small crucifix in the background of my video conferencing space. It wasn’t flashy. It wasn’t staged. It was simply there, like He always is.

And I started speaking more freely—not in grand declarations, but in gentle honesty—about how prayer guides my decisions and how Christ continues to restore what I once thought was lost.

These weren’t marketing tactics. They were me becoming whole.

The Fruit I Didn’t Expect

I didn’t do any of this with the expectation of results. I did it out of obedience. But God always multiplies what we surrender.

One day, a colleague messaged me privately after seeing my profile. “Would you want to join our Bible study group?” she asked. I didn’t even know she was a believer.

Others began opening up during 1:1s—sharing about their families, their struggles, and asking for prayer. People I never imagined would notice a crucifix or a line on LinkedIn began saying things like, “I’m not a person of faith, but I know you are. Could you pray for my daughter?”

Even now, I get choked up thinking about how God used something so small to open hearts.

We Don’t Have to Preach to Lead with Faith

One of the lies I believed early in my career was that being a faithful Catholic would make me less effective. That I had to lead like everyone else—confident, capable, and… quiet about what mattered most.

But here’s what I’ve learned: people are hungry for something deeper. They don’t need perfection. They need presence.

When we live our faith gently, without apology and without pressure, it becomes an invitation. It says, “You’re not alone. There’s hope. There’s love.”

To the Catholic Leader Who’s Wondering

If you’re a Catholic in a professional space and you’re wondering if your faith belongs there, hear me: it already does. You’re not separate from your calling. Your faith is what fuels it.

Whether you’re in a corporate role or building something new, don’t underestimate what God can do through one visible crucifix, one Spirit-led profile update, or one honest conversation.

Grace moves quietly. But it moves mountains.
